I Reach For The Stars
There is something wonderfully optimistic about saying “I reach for the stars.” It is a statement about possibility. About refusing to decide that your life has to remain within the boundaries of what you have already experienced. But reaching for the stars doesn't mean believing that everything you want will magically appear. It means being willing to want something more, to imagine something different and then ask yourself what you are prepared to do to move towards it.
Too often, we make our ambitions smaller before anyone else has the opportunity to tell us they are impossible. We decide that we are not clever enough, talented enough, confident enough or lucky enough. We look at where we are today and mistake it for a prediction of where we could be tomorrow. That is a dangerous way to think.
You don't have to know exactly how you will reach your goal before you take the first step. You don't need a perfect plan. You need the courage to begin, the curiosity to learn and the determination to keep moving when the first attempt doesn't work.
Reaching for the stars is also about giving yourself permission to dream. Your ambition doesn't need somebody else's approval. Your future doesn't have to be limited by somebody else's expectations.
And remember, positive thinking isn't about pretending that obstacles don't exist. They will. Some goals will take longer than expected. Some won't work out at all. That doesn't mean you should stop reaching. You are not broken. You are not finished.
There may be far more within you than you have yet discovered. So lift your eyes. Set your sights higher. And reach for the stars.
